DataCamp-Ishango.ai Scholarship Recipient: Ezinne Okechukwu

1. Please share a bit about yourself and your background. 

 My name is Ezinne Okechukwu, and I’m from Nigeria. I’m passionate about Data Analysis and Visualization, which has led me to pursue various courses and certifications. I’ve worked on several personal projects and job simulations on Forage with companies like Accenture and Quantium, using tools like Microsoft Excel, PostgreSQL, and Python.

2. What did you study and how did you first become interested in Data Science? 

My love for mathematics from childhood naturally led me to pursue a degree in Computer  Science. My desire to venture into Data Science was sparked by several conversations with a  friend who was already in the field. However, this friend also discouraged me, stating that  Data Science was too demanding and that I wouldn’t cope with the workload. Unfortunately,  I believed this and gave up without trying. 

A few months later, I found myself drawn to Data Analysis. With my background in Database Management as a CS graduate, I was already well-acquainted with fundamental  concepts, making the transition smooth. Given that Data Analysis and Data Science are  closely related, I got a glimpse into the world of Data Science, reigniting my interest and  determination to pursue a career in Data Science. 

3. What has been your experience with DataCamp Ishango.ai scholarship so far? 

The DataCamp-Ishango.ai scholarship has been a great experience so far. It has given me access to many resources and courses to improve my data skills. I’ve completed several SQL courses to strengthen my data analysis abilities. DataCamp’s practical, hands-on approach makes complex ideas easier to understand and apply. I’m very thankful for the one-year DataCamp scholarship from Ishango.ai and feel privileged to have been chosen.

4. What are your learning goals, and what do you hope to achieve through the  DataCamp Scholarship? 

Although Data Science may be demanding, I’m dedicated to making the most of the opportunity from Ishango.ai. My main goal is to master advanced data analysis techniques and become skilled in Python libraries for Data Science and Machine Learning. With the DataCamp-Ishango.ai scholarship, I hope to become an expert and contribute effectively to data-driven projects. Ultimately, I aim to secure a job where I can apply my skills to solve real-world problems and achieve significant results.
