Rose Adeyinka’s DataCamp-Ishango.ai Scholarship Journey: Nurturing Data Science Excellence
Please share a bit about your background. How did you first become interested in data science?
I grew up in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. I initially had a fear of math, but my interest in technology eventually helped me overcome my apprehension. I realised that math was a powerful tool for understanding complex problems and analysing data. During my undergraduate studies in demography and social statistics at the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti, I discovered my passion for data science. I was fascinated by the ways in which data could be utilised to drive insights and solve complex problems in different domains.
What has been your experience with the DataCamp-Ishango.ai scholarship so far?
My experience with the DataCamp-Ishango.ai scholarship has been overwhelmingly positive. The scholarship has provided me with access to top-quality training resources from DataCamp, which has been incredibly helpful in expanding my skills and knowledge in areas such as Python, statistics, and data manipulation. The structured approach of the programme, combined with the support and feedback provided by the Ishango.ai team, has allowed me to progress at my own pace while still receiving valuable guidance.
What are your learning goals, and what do you hope to achieve through the DataCamp-Ishango scholarship?
My learning goals through the scholarship are twofold. Firstly, I aim to develop a more profound understanding of the foundational concepts and practical skills required to excel in data science. Secondly, I hope to utilise my newfound knowledge to contribute to meaningful projects that can have a positive impact on society. I plan to enhance my proficiency in areas such as Python programming, data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning, which will not only benefit my career as a data scientist but also enable me to collaborate more effectively with others in the field.
