Ghana 2022 Programme launched

Our goal at Ishango.ai is to unlock the potential of African data scientists and give global companies access to this untapped talent pool. Core to achieving this is our 2 monthly data science fellowship where we give budding African data scientists the opportunity and support to grow and develop their skills by working remotely on projects for global host companies.

To make this possible, we, first of all, select the best data science talent in Africa through our rigorous process which includes filling out our online application, completing a technical assessment and attending an interview with a senior data scientist. For our Ghana cohort this year, we received over 750 applications from across Africa including Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Rwanda and many more.

We were excited to launch the start of the fellowship on the 6th of June at our Ghana HQ iSpace. Selected fellows will work on projects for our two new host companies Phastar and AfricanPractice.

Phastar is an organisation that works with small and large biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device companies to provide statistics, consulting, analysis and reporting, data management and data science services. While Africa Practice empowers organisations by offering advice, and consultancy to corporations, investors and foundations in Africa, with the end goal of providing them with the tools and information that will give them the confidence to be able to develop sustainable and equitable development.

Fellows working at iSpace headquarters

Over the next 2 months, our fellows will focus on delivering their projects with support from our Data Scientist in residence Jan Ravnik. They will also attend expert sessions delivered by experienced data scientists from around the world. These data scientists include James Walsh, Artem Solomin, Jiaming Chen and Chih-Chun Chen.

Stay tuned for updates from the programme and to learn more about what our fellows go on to achieve through their projects.

Applications for our next fellowship in Kigali, Rwanda and now open. If you believe you have what it takes to become an Ishango.ai fellow, learn more and apply here.
